Alpha Alpha Chapter Profile

  •

The Alpha Alpha Chapter was established at Duke University on November 26, 1901.  The Brothers of the Alpha Alpha Chapter engage themselves in a variety of extra curricular activities benefiting the campus and community outside of the classroom and the Fraternity.

S.L.A.G. stands for Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentleman, and are the pillars of our success.  The men we recruit are nothing but the best, and we only select those who exemplify these four characteristics.  These men are:

    SCHOLARS

The Brothers of the Alpha Alpha Chapter boast a 3.571 GPA, well above the IFC average.  We are writers for the Chronicle, active members in the Investment and Marketing Clubs, leaders in Wannamaker Quad Council, competitors in the UBS Investment Banking case competition, and business owners.  We are well prepared and focused on our careers beyond Duke.  Three seniors are members of Phi Beta Kappa, while others have jobs at companies such as Bair, Vanguard, Morgan Stanley, and Blackrock. Yet others have been accepted into top medical and law schools.

    LEADERS

We are members of Dukes and Duchesses, Inter-Fraternity Council, Freshmen Advisory Council, and Project Waves, among other various student run organizations on campus.  We are involved in all aspects of Duke student life, including the Navy ROTC program.

    ATHLETES

Our IM teams consistently perform well across all disciplines, while others are members of various club teams on campus.

    GENTLEMEN

Brothers of the Alpha Alpha Chapter support both their communities in Durham and abroad through Care for Carter and DukeEngage, as well as various local philanthropies.  A number of the Brothers also travel abroad- currently, Alpha Alpha chapter brothers can be found in Australia, Germany, Britain, and Spain.  Multiple Brothers serve as tour guides for the Admissions Department, singers in Speak of the Devil, or as Duke lifeguards, while others are members of a popular band at Duke, Point Break.
